Bucknum Readies for 2006 Season Finale at Chicagoland SpeedwayJeff Bucknum began this season with a short term goal to compete in his second Indy500 and then explore additional quality opportunities. Those opportunities came in a big package when Jeff was reunited with AJ Foyt for six IndyCar events, culminating with The Peak Antifreeze Indy 300 at Chicagoland Speedway on Sept. 10. “I am thrilled that AJ selected me to compete in the final six races this year,” stated Bucknum. “We are on the same wave length, and view these races as building blocks for the future. AJ is a great teacher and I am a more than willing student of his craft.” “As I have said before, every oval track has its own challenges and I have learned from them all. Chicagoland is pretty similar to Kentucky where we had a pretty good race so we plan to build on that experience this weekend. My task is to take what I have learned from the total of my experiences and convert that into a good performance. The #14 ABC Supply/Investment Properties of America entry at Chicago will welcome Larry Foyt back after a one race absence to attend to the business of returning to Houston and an active role in the Indycar program. Larry will be playing an increasingly important role in Foyt Enterprises as AJ continues his pledge to return to his deserved position of excellence in the IndyCar Series. “This year has come together as I had hoped,” continued Bucknum. “I feel very confident entering 2007 with a solid foundation in the skills necessary to compete in a world class arena. This series demands performance on super speedways, short ovals, street courses and road circuits, as well as the race of all races, the Indy 500. I want to complete this season with a good finish at Chicago and build momentum for a full season next year.” The Peak Antifreeze Indy 300 at Chicagoland Speedway will flag off on Sept. 10 at 1:30 pm EDT and will be televised live on ABC. |
